Firearm violence is a critical public health issue.
Firearm violence is a leading cause of premature death in the U.S., claiming more than 45,000 lives each year, and is the leading cause of death among children and teens, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Kaiser Permanente Center for Gun Violence Research and Education is focused on building a public health response to this epidemic, grounded in equity. Together, in collaboration with the Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (HAVI), the Center is building on Kaiser Permanente’s pioneering firearm violence prevention efforts.
